The RTL9210B chipset is a USB bridge that combines a USB device with both a PCIe controller and a SATA controller. It can automatically switch between USB-to-PCIe mode and USB-to-SATA mode via the PEDET interface of the M.2 mechanics.

In USB to PCIe mode, the RTL9210B supports PCIe Gen3 x2. For PCIe it offers a bandwidth of up to 10 Gbps. the PCIe host supports NVM Express.

In USB to SATA mode, the RTL9210B supports the SATA host at Gen3 speed. For SATA it offers a bandwidth of up to 6 Gbit/s.

It supports dynamic switching power state with NVMe/SATA/USB power management for power saving mode.
